NOVA SPA WATER CONDITIONER & PENETRATING CLEANSER APPLICATION DIRECTIONS For best results, we suggest using our Nova Penetrating Spa Cleanser product to remove existing contaminant build-up in the spa system before putting Nova Spa Water Conditioner in the spa water. CLEANSER and CONDITIONER APPLICATION DIRECTIONS Nova Penetrating Spa Cleanser Application Directions - 16 oz will treat 500 gallons. 1. Remove the spa filter cartridge from the filter housing. It is recommended that the filter also be cleaned with the Nova Penetrating Spa Cleanser or replaced if necessary. Filter can be placed in the bottom of the spa during the cleaning process. 2. Use the existing spa water, if there is less than 5 ppm chlorine or bromine. If chlorine or bromine exists at 5 ppm or greater, drain spa and refill. Chlorine and bromine will kill the microbes and the cleanser will not work. Set the temperature of the spa below 75 degrees and cool down spa before adding the cleanser. Do not use with hot water. Temperatures over 75 degrees will kill the microbes. 3. Pour in the full bottle of the Penetrating Spa Cleanser. Circulate the spa water for 1 hour to mix the cleanser throughout the spa water. If you cannot turn off the heater or set the temperature below 75 degrees, turn off the spa after the initial circulation. Circulate the water periodically during the cleaning process, but keep the temperature below 75 Degrees. Close the air jets to reduce foaming during the cleaning process. The foam can be used to clean the surface above the water line. 4. After two days, run the pumps on high to flush the plumbing for 10 minutes or more. Drain the water. This is a good time to remove the jets and clean them. Run water backwards through the jets to flush contaminants out of the plumbing. Remove all remaining water from foot well. Refill the spa with fresh water. Set your temperature setting to the desired temperature. JetOne Plumbing Cleanser 1. Add 4 oz to spa and run the jets on high for 1 hour for quick clean. For thorough clean, use the entire bottle. Run the jets on high for the 1st hour and then normal spa operation for 24 hours. 2. Use existing hot water for best results. Chlorine levels will not affect process. 3. Do not use the spa during the contaminant cleaning process. 4. Drain and rinse thoroughly. Nova Spa Water Conditioner Application Directions - 16 ounces treats up to 500 gal. 1. Fill the spa with fresh water. Heat the water to a temperature of 90 degrees or more. Check alkalinity. For best results, total alkalinity should be between 80 and 120. 2. Check the pH to ensure it is in the range of 7.8 to 8.4. (8.0 is optimum). You do not need to check your pH on a regular basis because Nova Spa will stabilize the pH once adjusted. However, because water can vary in different areas, we recommend that first time users of Nova Spa check the pH of the water for the first 2 weeks and after adding additional water. Check my FAQ webpage for more detail. 3. Add 16-ounce of Nova Spa Water Conditioner for each 500 gallons of spa water. 4. If you use your spa frequently (4-5 times a week), clean the filter every week. We recommend rinsing the filter with hot water, soaking it in Penetrating Spa Cleanser with cold water over night, and then rinse with water for a thorough cleaning. 5. Add another bottle of Nova Spa to the spa water every three months. 6. Drain and replace the spa water at least once a year or as needed. Clean your spa using the Nova Penetrating Spa Cleanser at least once a year or every 6 months (drain and refill) for better results. |

TIPS FOR MAINTAINING YOUR SPA 1. An organic smell is an indication that the enzymes are working to remove organic materials. If the smell persists, shock the spa. Nova Spa is compatible with chlorine shock products, but we recommend the non chlorine shock (MPS) for people with sensitivity to chemicals. 2. You may notice a slippery film on the walls of the spa. Nova Spa Water Conditioner contains positively charged ions. Your tub's surface has a negative charge. The resulting bond creates the slippery film. Rubbing the surface will break this bond. 3. Clean both sides of the spa cover with Clorox Clean-Up or similar product and water. Bacteria living on the cover can be a source of odors and contamination for the water. Flush the inside of the cover with your garden hose. Do not use chemical filter cleaners or any household cleaners that have chemicals in them. The chemicals may react with the water and cause an odor or cloud the water in tub. 4. If your alkalinity is low and your pH is low use baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to raise both. If your alkalinity is high use sodium bisulfate to lower the total alkalinity. Acid Magic is another alternative. Add small amounts and adjust over time rather than trying to do it all at once. Adjust the pH once alkalinity is in range. Use sodium carbonate to raise pH without changing the alkalinity. Adjust the water pH a little at a time; checking as you go until you get the pH between 7.8 and 8.4. (8.0 is optimum). Apple vinegar can be used to lower the pH. Store brand pH Up / Down are fine to use. 5. Rinse your filter weekly and clean with a filter cleaning product monthly. Go to my filter cleaning page for more information. Make sure the filtration system runs at least 8 hours a day (24hours). 6. Water clarifier can be used to speed up the removal of excess organic materials, oils and lotions, or use it weekly for prevention. Be patient. Because it is a biological process, it may take several days for the spa water to clear up.
